Highway 12 looking south from just north of the eastern
junction of Highway 48. Highway 12/48 was fully signed until Spring
2004, (even though the multiplex was extinguished entirely on January 1st,
1998). Highway 48 east of Highway 12 is a very relevant provincial
route. It is obvious to me that no one from the MTO (particularly
someone who was in charge of what highways to download) had ever spent a
summer afternoon observing traffic flows along Highway 48.

Looking north through the Simcoe Road 44
intersection. This intersection is quite busy, as Simcoe Road 44
serves as the main route to Casino Rama. Until 2004, Highway 12 met
Simcoe Road 44 in Atherley at what is now Creighton Street North. Picture taken: November 6th, 2004. Size: 45kb. |

View looking south from the Atherley Narrows
Bridge. In the distance the Creighton Street signalized intersection
is visible. Creighton Street was part of Simcoe Road 44 before the
short Atherley By-pass was constructed. Prior to that designation,
Creighton Street was part of the Highway 69
alignment that followed the eastern shores of Lake Couchiching. Picture taken: November 6yh, 2004. Size: 50kb. |

| City of Orillia | The junction assembly for the ramp from Highway
12 southbound to Highway 11 northbound. This ramp is really only there
for traffic from Simcoe Road 11 (Old Barrie Road) to access
Highway 11
Northbound. Despite being numbered Simcoe Road 11, and called the Old
Barrie Road, the road was never part of Highway 11
nor did it ever go directly to Barrie. Picture size: 20kb. |
