View looking southerly towards Huntsville from the Muskoka Road 3 overpass.  Until 2001 the divided highway ended at Muskoka Road 3.  Since then several multiyear projects have extended the divided highway northerly to Emsdale.  The current government (as of July 2007) has committed to 4-laning the remaining undivided stretches of Highway 11 between Barrie and North Bay by 2012.

Opposing view from the East Waseosa Lake Road overpass in Mellissa.  Highway 11 was routed straight through Melissa due to the close proximity of the CN Railway and environmentally sensitive lands surrounding the Little East River.

This view looks northerly from the same rock outcrop as the previous picture.  Notice the northbound (and newer) carriageway swings around an environmentally sensitive tract of land where the highway crosses the Little East River.

Looking north from the Scotia Road overpass.  Highway 11 curves west around Emsdale at this point.  Notice the clearing in the trees straight ahead of the northbound carriageway.  The old 2-lane Highway 11 passed through this clearing en route to Emsdale.

This view looks northerly along the Emsdale By-pass as Highway 11 crosses Star Lake Road.  The Emsdale By-pass sits high atop the village on a hill immediately west of the old Highway 11 alignment.

View looking north towards the at-grade Highway 592 junction north of the Highway 518 interchange.  As of July 2007, the divided highway ends at this location, however construction is underway to extend the expressway northerly to Burk's Falls.  This construction is scheduled to be completed in 2008.

Green junction signage for the Highway 592 intersection at the north end of the divided highway.  Though Highway 592 will be grade separated from Highway 11, no interchange will be constructed at this location.  Instead traffic bound to and from Highway 592 will have to use the Highway 518 interchange or the new Three Mile Lake Road interchange in Katrine.

View looking southerly along Highway 11 as it crosses the Magnetawan River south of Katrine.  This structure will be replaced during the ongoing widening project.  South of Katrine, what is mainline Highway 11 in this photo will become the southbound carriageway; while Highway 592 will be extended on the west side of the present highway as a service road.
