King's Highway 36 - Images

Photos shown in this table are arranged from West to East:

Proper Municipality Name Photo Description Photo
City of Kawartha Lakes Highway 36 at its western junction just southeast of Lindsay on the Bypass.  Prior to the mid 1950s Highway 36 actually turned at what is now Queen Street (formerly Highway 36B) and was routed into downtown Lindsay.  This new western terminus for Highway 36 opened around the same time as the new Highway 7/35 Lindsay Bypass, that looped around the south and west side of the town.  Picture taken: July 17th, 2004

City of Kawartha Lakes Highway 36 looking south over the Little Bob Channel in the south end of Bobcaygen.  Downtown Bobcaygen is actually located on an island which is connected to the mainland by two Highway 36 overpasses.  The northern bridge over the Big Bob Channel is the larger of the structures.  The Trent Severn Waterway uses the Big Bob Channel through Bobcaygen, connecting Sturgeon and Pigeon Lake's.  Because Bobcaygen is so tied into to its waterfront, it is a major tourist destination and as such, Bobcaygen generates most of the traffic on Highway 36.  Picture taken: July 17th, 2004

Highway 36 is multiplexed with Highway 507 from Flynn's Corners to Buckhorn, Click here for route information, and here for pictures (Coming Soon)
Township of Galway- Cavendish & Harvey

County of Peterborough

Highway 36/507 looking west and south respectively.  There is absolutely no references left that Highway 36 and 507 were ever multiplexed from Flynns to Buckhorn.  In fact, Peterborough County Road 507 now ends at Flynns, Peterborough County Road 36 runs on its own between Flynns and Buckhorn, and Peterborough has renumbered Highway 507 from Buckhorn to Highway 28 in Peterborough to Peterborough County Road 23.  Picture taken: July 17th, 2004
