Highway 402 driving eastbound at the Front Street interchange. Front
Street is the first full interchange east of the Blue Water Bridge, and is
the main access route into both Downtown Sarnia and Point Edward. Front
Street was the last interchange to be constructed on Highway 402.
Before 1982, Front Street met Highway 402 at an at-grade intersection.

in Sarnia. Christina Street is located roughly at kilometre marker 1.
Since this picture was taken, there is considerable ongoing construction on Highway 402 west of
Christina Street to facilitate Border improvements at the Bluewater Bridge.

Looking east from Christina Street along Highway 402. The Christina
Street overpass was the first grade-separation constructed on Highway 402.
The overpass was completed in 1952; prior to that Highway 402 had been
entirely an at-grade highway.

Looking west from the Indian Line overpass towards the Bluewater Bridge.
In the distance of this photo, notice Highway 402 crossing over Sarnia's
Colborne Street. This was the second structure constructed on Highway
402 (completed in 1957) and today features extremely poor sightlines. Fortunately this
situation should be rectified during upcoming border improvements.

interchange at Indian Line was constructed in 1970, as part of a larger
project to construct grade separations throughout the City of Sarnia.
A precursor to the extension of Highway 402 towards London.

Highway 402 looking west from the Murphy Road overpass in Sarnia. This
picture showcases the Indian Road interchange. Despite being of a
fairly standard parclo-A configuration, Indian Road is somewhat of an odd
design. In the early 90s, the SB-WB directional ramp from Indian Line
to Highway 402 was removed, thus converting a 6-ramp parclo into a 5-ramp
interchange.

Looking east from the Murphy Road overpass in Sarnia. In this picture,
you can see the start of the by-pass that was constructed in the early-1970s as
a precursor to Highway 402 being extended easterly to London. Before
this, Highway 402 continued straight towards Highway 7 (now Lambton Road 22),
before narrowing to a conventional 2-lane highway.

Highway 402 looking east from the Blackwell Road overpass near Sarnia.
Blackwell Road is located roughly at kilometre marker 8. This picture
showcases the Airport Road interchange. As one would suspect by the
name, Airport Road is the major route from Highway 402 to Sarnia's Airport.

Highway 402 looking east from the Airport Road overpass near Sarnia.
East of Airport Road, Highway 402 drivers must negotiate a fairly sharp
S-curve. East of this curve, Highway 402 has a much larger grassed
median, and is virtually dead straight all of the way to Strathroy.

Camlashie Road is located roughly at kilometre marker 21. The roadside
pullouts shown in this photo are Truck inspection stations. These
Inspection stations are the only ones located along Highway 402.

Highway 402 looking east from the Camlashie Road overpass. The stretch
of Highway 402 from Mandaumin Road to Highway 21
has yet to be rehabilitated since being constructed in the late 1970s.
Because of this, this portion of Highway 402 has narrower then normal lanes,
and a fairly rough driving surface.

throughout the area. This was part of a
multiyear project that will see Highway 402 upgraded near
Highway 21 (North). This construction
project wrapped up it mid fall of 2005

Strathroy. This picture showcases the Middlesex Road 39 interchange.
Interestingly, Highway 22 once ran along
what is now Middlesex Road 39 heading to Highway 79 via Strathroy and
Watford instead of the more present more direct route to the north of
today's Highway 402.

Highway 402 has two interchanges in London before its terminus at Highway
401. Heading eastbound on Highway 402, traffic bound for Downtown
London is directed to Wellington Road via Highway 401.

Wonderland Road is located at kilometre marker 100. Originally,
Wonderland Road was not accessible from Highway 402. It wasn't until
1998 that an interchange was constructed.
