Lucan Biddulph - Middlesex Centre Boundary

County of Middlesex

This photo is looking west down the hill towards Elginfield.  The first intersection in the foreground of the image is that of Highway 23.  Highway 23 comes to an end where it meets Highway 7.  It continues only north of this intersection, leading towards Listowel and Harriston.  In the distance the junction with Highway 4 can be seen.

Picture taken: October 6th, 2004.  Size: 35kb.

Lucan Biddulph - Middlesex Centre Boundary

View looking easterly towards the Prospect Hill Road intersection.  Highway 7 followed Prospect Hill Road until 1970 when the St. Mary's Diversion was opened to traffic.

Perth South - Middlesex Centre Boundary

Perth - Middlesex Boundary

Highway 7 looking west across the North Branch of the Thames River.  Hills like the one shown in this picture are not typical of the otherwise mundane Southwestern Ontario terrain.

Picture taken: August 1st, 2004.  Size: 45kb.

Township of Perth South

County of Perth

An old reassurance marker for the Highway 7/19 co-designation in Perth County.  This sign has been removed since this photo was taken.

Picture size: 40kb. (Sorry for the Poor Photo Quality).

Township of Perth South

County of Perth

This picture is looking west along Highway 7/19 over the Trout Creek and Wildwood Lake Dam site.  This is one of very few modern highways in Ontario to cross an active dam.

Picture taken: August 1st, 2004.  Size: 35kb.

City of Stratford

This photo shows the junction of Highways 7 and 8 in Stratford.  Stratford has very few reassurance markers and has removed all references to Highway 19.  Before 1998 the furthest right sign on the gantry would have included a Highway 19 crown; 19 north is routed east along Ontario Street (concurrent with Highways 7 and 8) before heading north along Waterloo Street to Tralae.

Picture taken April 16th, 2004.  Size: 30kb.

Township of Perth East

County of Perth

View looking west towards the Stratford City Limits and connecting link.  Stratford is a small city of about 30,000 residents.

Picture taken: June 10th, 2006.  Size: 40kb.

Township of Perth East

County of Perth

View looking east from just east of Stratford's east limits.  Highway 7/8 has a 4-lane cross section for a distance of roughly 2km east of Stratford.  This type of 4-lane cross-section is very unusual on an assumed section of provincial highway; typically the MTO prefers to separate opposing traffic with a flush median or a 2-way centre turn lane.

Township of Perth East

County of Perth

View looking west towards Stratford from the eastern Forest Road junction.  Highway 7/8 has a small diversion in the vicinity of Forest Road as the highway skirts around a small lake.

Picture taken: June 10th, 2006.  Size: 50kb.

Township of Perth East

County of Perth

View looking east towards Shakespeare along Highway 7/8.  Shakespeare is located roughly half way between Stratford and New Hamburg.

Picture taken: June 10th, 2006.  Size: 45kb.

Township of Perth East

County of Perth

Highway 7/8 looking west from the Highway 59 intersection in Shakespeare.  Highway 7/8 is a conventional Highway from Stratford to the end of the New Hamburg bypass.

Picture taken: August 1st, 2004.  Size: 70kb.

Township of Perth East

County of Perth

View looking west into Shakespeare.  The traffic light at the Highway 59 (now Perth Road 107) intersection in Shakespeare is the cause of significant congestion along Highway 7/8.

Picture taken: June 10th, 2006.  Size: 65kb.

Township of Perth East

County of Perth

View of Highway 7/8 looking west from the Perth Road 104 intersection.  Highway 7/8 passes through several of these rolling hills between New Hamburg and Shakespeare.

Picture taken: June 10th, 2006.  Size: 50kb.

Township of Perth East

Township of Perth East

County of Perth

This picture shows Highway 7/8 looking west from the Waterloo Road 1 intersection at the end of the New Hamburg By-pass.  The MTO is currently in the preliminary design phase for adding extra capacity along Highway 7/8 between Stratford and New Hamburg.
Picture taken: August 1st, 2004.  Size: 50kb.
Township of Wilmot

Regional Municipality of Waterloo

Highway 7/8 looking west towards Peel Road from Victoria Street on the New Hamburg Bypass.  The new Hamburg bypass is a 4-lane semi-divided at-grade expressway with a posted speed limit of 80km/h.  This is a very typical looking cross-section.
Picture taken: August 1st, 2004.  Size: 70kb.
